FAQ's

Question;
Why are most of the salvage vehicles Apple Salvage has for sale un-recorded?
Answer;
We specialise in purchasing damaged vehicles from the Insurance Companies of owners living and working abroad, therefore if the vehicle is 'written off' the details are not normally recorded with UK computer databases.

Question;
Are these vehicles RHD?
Answer;
Yes, these cars are normally built exactly to British specification. If the owner has an accident abroad the Insurance Company often has difficulties in obtaining competitive and responsive estimates for repair, e.g. the parts are not readily available for Right Hand Drive vehicles overseas and the labour rates are very high.

Question;
You represent that the cars are good value for money, how do you sustain that claim?
Answer;
One of the reasons is because the labour rates overseas are much higher than in the UK and the parts to repair are often not available within an acceptable period, a vehicle is very often total lossed on an 'economical basis, therefore many of our vehicles for sale are comparatively 'lightly damaged' with vehicles total lossed in the UK. In addition the method used by most UK Insurance Companies to dispose of their salvage has only served to increase the cost to the buyer.

Question;
We heard that most of the vehicles you have for sale are tax free, how much tax is payable in addition to the purchase cost?
Answer;
None, although it is true that most of the vehicles we purchase overseas are tax free. Certain people, for example Diplomat's and people serving in the British Forces overseas are entitled to purchase a new vehicle tax free. Apple Salvage pays the UK tax at the point of sale in the UK, in fact there is a legal duty upon us to do that. Therefore the vehicle is fully tax paid at the point of your purchase. You will be given a Customs & Excise document to substantiate that. As an added benefit, because the vehicles are tax free, the point at which the Insurance Company will Total loss is sooner than if the vehicle had a pre accident tax paid value.

Question;
Have these vehicles been registered in the UK previously?
Answer;
Normally no, but we will supply you with a De-Registration document and the Customs & Excise document (as mentioned above) in order to assist you to register the vehicle in the UK.

Question;
Do I need any other documentation to register the vehicle and will I be given guidance on how to register the vehicle?
Answer;
You may need a Certificate of Conformity from the Manufacturer, we will advise in what cases this is necessary, you will need to complete a DVLA document for 'First Registration' of the vehicle in the UK, you will have to pay a 'first registration fee' to the DVLA and you will have to tax the vehicle for road use at the same time as you register the vehicle. Normally of course a buyer will not register the vehicle until repairs are complete and the vehicle is ready for road use and or resale. You will need to produce identification documentation to the DVLA at the time of purchase. The process is quite simple and we will advise you every step of the way.

Question;
Do you deliver a vehicle if we purchase from you?
Answer;
Yes, we can and do deliver vehicles Nationwide, this cost of course is additional to the purchase cost of the vehicle, the cost will be given at the time of purchase. We require that a vehicle is paid in full before it will be scheduled for delivery. This includes the cost of delivery. Delivery costs are subject to VAT.

Question;
Do you accept Credit or Debit Card payments?
Answer;
Yes we do, but because our prices are very competitive we usually only accept a deposit over the telephone to secure the vehicle, once the deposit is received we will email or fax to you our full bank details in order for you to transfer the balance payable to initiate the delivery process.

Question;
Can we make an offer for a vehicle?
Answer;

Although at this moment we do not sell vehicles by Internet Auction we will consider serious offers made by any party, if your offer is acceptable we will contact you to request a deposit.
